Day 3,273 —Out-of-Pocket—

I watched a duck swim slowly towards me, making the letter V as she glided towards me. I feel guilty if I stay up late, and I feel guilty if I get up late. I tried to focus on the run and appreciate what I was able to do, yet I started the run being upset that I had not started earlier. Once I made it to the pond and watched the ducks, I started to feel better. Is the air next to ponds just different? Today, I want to learn about the origins of the phrase "out-of-pocket" meaning "out of control." So far, I haven't found much except that it first appeared sometime in the 1940s.
