Day 3,275 —Run to the River at Night—
I started around 11 p.m. It seemed like a good night for it. I took a slightly different route to the River to avoid traffic and stay on as many paths as possible. I noticed that the building that used to be a bookstore was now some sort of kids' indoor adventure park. I went past Powder Valley and then turned left onto the trail. When I paused for a moment to appreciate the view and take a picture, I accidentally saved my run on my watch, so now it looks like two runs.
When I looked out over the side, I couldn't see the water, and all I could hear was the cars on the highway. I pulled up the map on my phone to confirm that I was standing next to the river. I got even closer to the river later and took some more pictures, even though it was too dark for the camera. Next, I ran across the river and onto the other side. I was curious how far it went and if there was a different way to get back. I'm sure that there must be. When I made it past the river and started running under the bridge, I noticed yellow eyes looking up at me. It was too dark to make out a shape, but it was most likely a cat. I saw many cats that morning walking around. Most of them ran from me, but one followed me for a while before changing its mind and turning around the other way. I decided to turn around after I saw the cat under the bridge and headed back the other way. I'll have to go farther next time and find an alternative route back. It was a good run.
When I got home, I wished it was closer to sunrise, so I could stay up and start making breakfast.
