Day 2,890 —Yesterday and Tomorrow— with my PICTURE of LEAVES by a CURB #674
I drank coffee last night trying to stay up for a little longer because I have been feeling adventurous lately, but it didn’t make a difference: I was asleep by ten.
Yesterday, I went over to Headquarters library on Manchester by the Frontenac. I used to work there. I remember driving on the road so many times. I got a novel, two nonfiction books, and an old movie I have never heard of, and I walked around the local history section.
Then, I went to find the restaurant that used to be next door. I had been there many times before. It was a German place that looked authentic with high ceilings and an entirely German selection of food.
I doubted I would have been able to find anything to eat, but I thought I could sit at the bar and read for a little bit before going to the Frontenac to see a movie.
I used to do this more frequently in my twenties. I remember finishing the novel Revolutionary Road at the bar right before going to see the movie across the street.
Yet, the building was gone, and when I kept driving down the road, I ended up accidentally getting in line for a Starbucks and when I tried to leave everyone honked at me like I was trying to cut the line.
At least the movie theater is still there, and I got to see my movie, but it still felt like something was missing.
