Day 3,412—3 Days until the Shawnee Hill 100 with a Picture from last year—
My vest felt lighter today, and the heat didn’t bother me a lot. I am still running in long clothes, which isn’t fun, but it is helping me feel more confident about Saturday. I tested out a new headlamp today that is light and goes on your head with straps like sunglasses.
I talked to my wife and daughter about last year's race and how great it was that they were there, but with the baby, it would be too dangerous for them to go this year. My daughter told me she still wanted to go, which is nice of her to say. I like having them there, but it is stressful to be at some of these races. Last year, my wife missed me at three consecutive aid stations by a handful of minutes each time! The aid workers described how I looked to her before she went to wait again.
Last year, it was the first time I attempted a trail 100. I made many mistakes, but it is also the longest I have ever been out, at around 29 hours and 30 minutes.
