Day 3,574 —Turkeys in Flight —
I turned at the wrong spot and took a
deer trail. You can always tell your on a deer trail when you see the outline
in the trees. It only goes up about 4 feet, so you end up having to crouch down
to make it.
But whatever, it is just my morning
run, why not get tired trying to navigate the difficult terrain? When I finally
just left the creek area altogether, I immediately saw the crossing that I
normally take. I was still laughing at myself, “Why am I frustrated?” Wasn’t
the point of going out to run, to go out to run?
Then, I saw a flock of turkeys about
100 yards away. As I approached, they all galloped in a straight line before
taking flight. I watched them fly away. Then, I saw them again on the other
side of the area, hanging out. I approached them a second time and the younger
ones flew away again, but there were a few that were older that walked slowly
trying to blend into the surroundings.
It was a
great way to start the day.
