Day 3,044 —Snake on the Path— with a PICTURE of an OLD FLOWER
It looked like a snake when I stepped over it, but I figured it was a stick, but I still looked behind to double check. I stopped when I noticed the familiar shape of the head. And, I took this picture of the snake.
Part of me felt happy to see the snake. I was just thinking how I felt a little less confident not having done as many trails recently. I did do that 40 mile trail race in June, and it just didn’t work out last weekend, and this weekend it just didn’t feel like the timing was right. But, I thought the snake was reminding me how much daily “trail” like adventures I go on.
My body is telling me to slow down and start to conserve energy. Part of me cannot wait until the race stars at 6 a.m. on Saturday and a long day begins. I don’t know what is going to happen. This is going to be my first 100-mile trail race. I need to remember to go slow and be patient.
I am thinking I might pace the first 33-mile loop around 9-10 hours.
