Day 4,333—February Pushup Count, my Review of Train Dreams, and why is the Federal Government telling Scouts what to do? And Today’s 20-Mile Run—

I have a box filled with old watches, and now I want another one. Mainly because my Garmin Fenix 7 died on my last run. As much as I don’t love the bigger watch look, I have been wishing I had gotten the Fenix 7X instead of this one. I bought it over two years ago now, which seems like a long time, but these watches aren’t cheap. The 7X solar has a longer battery life and a flashlight but even saying it out loud makes me think I should keep using this one. The newest generation is the Fenix is 8, so part of me thinks I should still wait to upgrade to something else. I feel like my major complaints about this watch are small in the grand scheme of things. I can change the settings to get more battery life. I don’t need a flashlight on my watch, but I would like to have it as backup just in case.

I did 3,348 pushups in February, which means I averaged around 119 each day. The most I did in one day was 210, and the least was 20. I did have some days when I ran a lot, so I didn’t do a lot of pushups, but in general, I was able to do some each morning and some each night. I also did 583 leg lifts. Those I wasn’t pushing myself as hard to do, but I think they have helped my leg. I feel stronger now. I didn’t record this, but I also stretched almost every day. I have gotten into a habit of stretching in the morning and at the end of the day. I would still like to stretch more, but it is a step in the right direction.

For March, I would like to do at least 5,000 pushups. I was surprised by how much just pushups on a regular basis throughout the day doing put me in a better mood. I cannot add on more miles during the day of running, but I can almost always find somewhere to do another set of pushups, and I found the habit incredibly rewarding, so my next goal will be 5,000 for March. I don’t want to go crazy with it, but I just think it is a helpful activity, and it can make a positive difference.

I might have to save the other stuff I wanted to write about until tomorrow. Transitioning to movies, I have continued to watch Oscar movies, and yesterday and today I watched Train Dreams, which is a very Terrence Malick-like film, but for me, it was lacking a lot of substance. Overall, it was well done, and had so many gorgeous nature shots.

So much in the news was upsetting this weekend, but seeing that the government is now trying to order the Scouts around made me so mad?! Isn’t everyone tired of all this extreme government overreach into the private sector? What they’re doing in education and media is also upsetting but going after the Scouts?! What in the world is happening? Returning to my running updates, 20 miles today felt good and not like I was extremely tired. I think I am ready for this race! Less than two weeks to go until my first new state since the Badger 100.
