Day 4,341—4 Runs until TK 100 and the Marty Supreme Review—
Sometimes I like the idea of doing a running mile countdown as well as the countdown in my titles before a race, but the more I consider it, the more I realize I didn’t want to run 5 or 4 miles today. Instead, for this week, I am thinking each day will be either 3 or 2 miles. Except for Friday, when I will only do a little over 1 mile. This is going to be a busy week, and realistically, I need to start packing for the race, but at this point, it is still so far away. I did get a jump start on grocery shopping, although doing it this far in advance means I will need to go again before Friday morning. However, right now, I am feeling good about how much I have prepared so far. I also stretched for 10 minutes this morning and meditated for 5 minutes. I want to continue doing that routine each morning, and I will also try it at lunch and at night. I thought I might feel more sluggish this morning due to the time change, but I feel fine, which I know partly has to do with how little coffee I drank yesterday. I am down to half a cup a day, but I want to buy decaf just in case I feel like more. If I can switch over to decaf on Thursday, that would be ideal.
Mart Supreme was extremely good, if not a great movie. I don’t know if I will revisit it, but I immediately wanted to know what would happen next. The story consists of scenarios that are similar to watching someone gamble. They start off in a good place, then they immediately lose everything. Next, you see them win all their money back and then some, but instead of cashing in their chips, they bet it all again. At first, it was exhausting to watch because you kept wanting to scream, “Why?!” But that’s kind of the point. I wanted to read more about the real guy, but from what I read, this is only loosely based on a real person; the guy they based it on was characterized by many of these aggressive qualities. The movie also felt grand, and the music made the drama more whimsical than sad. Even though the story was constantly dealing with stressful and traumatic circumstances, I was more likely to laugh than cry at any given moment. It was good, but I don’t think it was better than Timothy Chamelies's performance as Dylan. Only one more nominated movie left, but instead of watching it, I turned on Blue Moon yesterday, and so far, I am engaged. I didn’t realize it was a Richard Linklater movie. It is good seeing Ethan Hawke play something so against type. This one might change at any point, but so far, the entire movie takes place in one location.
