Day 4,357—Race Decisions and Watch the Thunder Kiss Race Video—

I am feeling a little proud of the Thunder Kiss video and the race as a whole. It wasn’t that long ago that I felt defeated and that I was doing everything wrong, so it is good to reflect on how quickly things can change when you keep holding on and staying the course (which is so much like running). I am smiling as I write this because I feel good going into today. I have gotten into a good routine between my pushups, leg lifts, and running in the morning.

I have also started walking around in these sandals that are supposed to help your feet. They have a dozen or so button-type devices that you step on. It is supposed to help like acupuncture, and I just like how it keeps my feet from getting sore when they have problems. I was more focused on my foot issues until my left leg became a bigger issue in December, and that is finally becoming less of a daily stressor.

Today, when I was running, I looked over to the right and saw a deer sleeping in the front yard of someone’s house. I first thought it wasn’t real, but when I realized it was, I took a picture. Then a car approached and stopped when it saw me in the street. When the driver stopped, I noticed the other four deer all standing in the front yard of this person’s house. I wonder if the owner has ever noticed them before. How cool to have so many deer in your front yard, just napping.

I’d been stuck choosing a May/June race, but last night I finally decided. This one is closer, well-known, and lets me run the Berryman in May too, which I don’t want to miss. That’s usually my favorite and only consistent 50-mile race each year. I’ll share more details tomorrow.
