Day 4,353—The Hottest Day Saturday in Months and an Update—

I spent so much time yesterday working on my race report and finishing most of the video editing. I was thinking it might be possible to publish everything today, but I am not there yet. I should be completely done by tomorrow, which is only a week turnaround, so that’s not bad. I went out today, grateful that I had done more yesterday, so I only wanted to run over 10 miles. I was genuinely thinking about how rare it is for me to have such a long week after a race. I was so focused on getting work done for my classes that I didn’t have as much time to strictly focus on recovery.

However, I have gotten into such a good stretching routine. I used to be so bad about stretching, but now I am finally prioritizing it again. While I was working yesterday, I set a timer to pause and stretch, which seems to be a better way than always trying to stretch the full time to make it count. During this run, I noticed a lot of people out, but also that the golf course was undergoing major construction. I probably noticed it more because I was still thinking about that go-kart place being destroyed. I ran by there a decent amount without noticing it until it was gone, but it always seemed like an odd use of space. Who needs an indoor go-kart place? There never seemed to be a lot of people there.

Look out for tomorrow’s post, where I will include the complete write-up of the race and a link to the race video! I would post the next part, but I haven’t started editing everything yet and just want to finish the video before I go back to the race write-up. I was looking at the map of the states I have been to, and it boggles my mind that the states closest to the one I live in remain elusive. How is it possible I haven’t raced in Kansas or Iowa yet? Every time I get another state, I just start thinking about all the states I haven’t gotten to yet. I completed my first 100-mile race in 2021, and since then, I've finished 13 more, including a 200-mile race and a 24-hour race where I ran over 100 miles. So 14 in the five years isn’t that bad. I would like to average closer to 4-5 a year, but everyone has to start somewhere.
