Day 4,336—Accidently Slept In and I Was Right about the Prediction Markets—
I saw the article yesterday afternoon about the plethora of people who somehow knew to make huge bets on the US attacking Iran over the weekend and specifically taking out its leader. This industry would not exist if Harris had won the election. The current president and his family directly benefit from these industries, having substantial investments in the two companies that manage these markets. This “bet on everything” model somehow does not legally qualify as gambling, so people as young as 18 are allowed to place bets, and there are currently no guardrails to help addicts stop.
Meanwhile, we’re at war, and the current administration is attempting to violate the Constitution by taking over local elections. It's scary to be alive. We thought we had it bad when W was president, but what always bothered me about the backlash against him was that, for the most part, it was not based on his politics, but rather on his public image. I doubt many will even remember his controversies in a few decades.
I saw two different cop cars driving around places they don’t usually go this morning, and I saw a runner going down Laclede, which was different. I also saw a cat in a tree. I tried to get a picture, but it ran off when I got too close. I also saw the group in Shrewsbury Park running and doing cardio. I wonder how many days of the week they get out there. I feel like I see them there all the time and then not at all for months, but I don’t run over there every day, so who knows? But happy Wednesday! I am choosing to be positive today! I got my 6th graders to do a pushup contest yesterday, and so far, it has been the highlight of my week.
I slept in until almost 4:30 this morning!!!! That is the first time I have ever slept in since the start of the school year. I am just glad I got up so early that I could rush to make up the time. I didn't have coffee before I started my run, and I didn’t have a lot of time to stretch or do anything else this morning, but I am getting the main stuff done! I ran, I did pushups, and I am writing now. I am just counting down the days until Spring Break and the Thunder Kiss 100! I am so excited to get back out there.
