Day 2,552 —Happy Thor’s Day (Thursday)— (with Pictures of a Track)
Thursday translated means, “Thor’s day.” Before it was named after Thor it was named after Jupiter by the Romans and Zeus by the Greeks. I find it so fascinating how so many sources about the meaning of the names stops with a reference that they are all named after the planets. Of course, the planets were all named after the Roman gods, which were all named after the Greek gods. Another fascinating thing about the days of the week is that Romans had 8 days to their week, and Hebrews only named their days the number, so (Monday was one, Tuesday was two, etcetera).
I did not feel that fresh today. I am only on five-hours of sleep, so that makes sense. I started out slow for sure and had a hard time staying in the moment. I just tried out a new pair of shoes. New Balance’s Minimus Prevail. They felt heavy compared to my Xero shoes, but I might like them on a particular long run on the roads or an easy trail.
