Day 3176 —New Day New Year— with a WINTER MORNING
People react differently to the start of a new year, some people can feel overwhelmed by goals left not complete while others can feel complacent having accomplished what they wanted to for the year. I usually feel refreshed and ready for what's next.
I ran on the Chubb Trail to get some trail miles in leading up to a race. I tried to find a GPS file of the course, but I was unable to locate one. Despite this, I decided it was more important to do trail miles today, regardless of location.
The Chubb Trail was busy, with many people walking their dogs or with their kids. I hadn't run this trail in a while, so I was surprised by how much I remembered the slow downhill, which is always tough on the way back. The uphill on the other side was relatively tough, but I felt much stronger compared to how I felt when I ran these trails last year. I looked at the race roster and recognized at least three names of guys I've raced with before, which makes me even more excited. It looks like a good group of runners will be competing in the 100. I hope everyone can finish! The roster has me finishing in 37 hours, but I hope that's not the case. I'm not sure how they come up with those pace suggestions, but I can never remember how off they end up being. It will be a tough race for sure.
