Day 3203 —No Food, No Water, and the Sunrise—

My main concern was how much time I would be able to run, so I ended up moving a little faster than I have in a while. I left without eating or drinking, not really thinking about it, but once I realized during my run what I had done and how I planned to run around 15 miles without stopping to drink water, I felt good about my decision. It is difficult to mimic the stress of dealing with demanding physical and mental energy during a race, but runs like today seem to help. I know I can keep going even if I haven't eaten or had anything to drink for a decent amount of time, and in the conditions today, there was no risk of harm. I walked up a hill around mile 15 and slowed down on those last two miles, but I felt good about the run. I was working hard but not killing myself. Seeing the sunrise put me on another planet; I didn’t mind having to carry my headlamp for long after I stopped needing it. I think these might be some of the best pictures I have taken in a while.
