Day 4,220—Jacket Weather—

It was hard to think of anything but the Supreme Court's decision to allow the executive branch the power of the purse. It is almost as if most of them need to take a high school civics class and remember the basic principles of the US Government. Do they remember the thing about separations of power? It is just maddening that this is what they needed to rule on. It is as if they were all thinking yesterday evening, “QUICK, WE MUST MAKE SURE 100 MILLION PEOPLE DON’T HAVE ENOUGH FOOD TO EAT!!!” But I digress.

If I were going out in general, I would need to wear a jacket, but since I was running, I wore a long-sleeved shirt. I put on my Ozark Trail 100 shirt, not thinking, but a guy saw it and said something about it when I had stopped to get a drink of water.

“The Ozark Trail 100. How was that?”

I told him I had some shoe problems, but that the race was a lot of fun.

“So you finished?”

        “Yeah, I finished.”

“I used to say that I always wanted to do a 100-mile run.”

I looked at him and said, “You should; anyone can do it,” and then I ran off.

That’s the danger of going anywhere with a race shirt. Although I have plenty of race shirts, I don’t have many that clearly say "100 miles." So many races offer multiple distances and don’t customize the shirt. For the rest of the run, I felt like everyone was looking at my shirt and thinking, “Wow, 100 miles!” I am sure no one was thinking that, but I just thought that now that I have run 200 miles, 100 doesn’t seem that impressive anymore.

*The race video is so close to being done. I should be able to post it tomorrow. I just need to edit the sound mix today.
