Day 4,228—a Repast—
After running yesterday until my left leg was aching, I decided I needed a break to let my body recover. Today, I went slow, and I plan to continue to run slow for at least the next week, if not two. I don’t know what this means for the possibility of another 100 in December, but I know my body requires a break. It is annoying because I like running and pushing it as much as I can, but for a while, I need to practice restraint.
I took a salt bath today, and that helped. I am not as sore now as I was yesterday, but things like this just make me worry. My mind can wander to when I can take a break, but I am not injured now as much as I was in pre-injury, so now is the time to act. During my run today, I just took it easy and didn’t notice any strain. It was a little cooler than yesterday, and I would have been fine in a t-shirt and shorts, but I was wearing my long-sleeved shirt from the 200-mile race. After wearing my Ozark Trail, I decided I like wearing it.
