Day 4,240—Shopping in the Cold—

I knew where I was going today, so I didn’t spend as much time running around aimlessly. I wanted to start earlier, which is difficult because even though our room is by a window, it is an artificial outside, basically a giant greenhouse, which is worth the price of admission because the idea of being outside while you’re inside is priceless. I wish they had some sort of indoor /outdoor trail to run on. That one would be the ticket if I had infinite money to build a huge trail system that is inside buildings. It would be so expensive to maintain, and even if I opened it up to the public, I cannot imagine a ton of people would be interested in showing up to run there, but I love the idea of being able to go somewhere and run a trail in 4 different extreme climates right next to each other. Can you imagine being able to do a few miles in a desert and then jump over to an Antarctica-like climate next? The beach would have to be an option, and maybe the fourth one would be a jungle?
The mall was packed today! Not in the extreme amounts you would imagine on Black Friday, but the lot was 75% full by 7 a.m., so that’s not too bad for a mall. A person, as I was running, said something like, “I don’t know how you do it in the cold.” It was somewhat cold this morning, but I was comfortable in shorts with a hat and my running hoodie, so my reaction was to say something like, “This isn’t cold. I have run in the cold.”
The Fall Creek 100 was so cold, but the last two Shippey experiences were something else entirely. Who knows what the next one is going to be like? For whatever reason, I don’t think it is going to be as cold this year. And this morning my hair wasn’t even frozen yet.
