Day 4,224—Incidental Pain—
My only regret about yesterday is not putting together a bookshelf. I kept telling myself I would do it when I had time, and I had time yesterday, and I didn’t do it. I liked running on the trail in the cold. The first half, I was feeling amazing, breathing in the cold air, musing on why I don’t run in the cold more often and why I don’t run the Chubb Trail when it snows.
However, the second half of my run took a turn. I started falling once I got to the West Tyson side. I had noticed I was dealing with pain that went from my left thigh up to the center of my back. This pain wasn’t bothering me that much, but when I hit something with my right foot and was forced to correct my balance by thrusting my left foot out as quickly as possible, my whole left side was aching.
I took a salt bath when I got home, but I was thinking about how it has been weeks since the race, and yet I am still dealing with this. I finally decided for sure I am not doing a race on 11/22. I hate to back down from a challenge I made myself, but I wanted to do another 100-mile race for my birthday, but I don’t want to be miserable or injure myself. Thankfully, there is still time to figure it out. I saw a dear on the other side of a fence today in the trail I have been doing recently! No time to do the trail today but it was something seeing the dear looked trapped. I know spots where can escape but I wonder where everyone else was.
Watch the Ozark Trail 100 video! 6 races! What a Year! More than double the amount I have completed in any other year.
