Day 4,225—I See You, Deer—

I put the bookshelf together last night. I think by mentioning it in my post yesterday, I was more motivated to finish it yesterday. It is a cool bookshelf, but it isn’t as big as I would prefer to replace a different bookshelf but I like it. I just have too much stuff. I need to go through another overhaul, where I just start getting rid of things I don’t use. Whenever I do that, I can get stuck in this spiral where, when confronted with what I don’t use, I remember the cost and try to use it more to justify owning it.

My hip/thigh felt better today. It isn’t perfect, but I brought one of my massagers to school so I could try to use it throughout the day, and it actually helps. I also just need to stretch more; even if there are parts of my body I cannot stretch without irritation, I still need to commit to stretching.

What was memorable about this run was seeing a group of deer staring at me when I was on the trail in the seminary. I also caught a glimpse of a set of yellow eyes that were waist high. I thought about those eyes for a while because it didn’t make any sense that an animal with yellow eyes would be out there. The only thing that big I can think of with yellow eyes are all predators, so it must have been something else, which reminded me of all the times I was hallucinating when I was running the Ozark Trail 100. The only battle against hallucinating is mentally comparing what you think with what you know in the moment.
