Day 3,678 —Going to have to Get my Feet Wet—

I read the email from the race director of the Berryman, and they said that part of the course was underwater, so expect to have to walk through it. Several parts of the course were flooded when I did it two years ago, and I don’t remember last year as being that bad, but it is good to know what the course looks like. I’ll bring two pairs of shoes and lots of socks, but besides that, I am not sure what else I could do besides wearing sandals and using them for portions of the race if there is that much flooding. My feet will probably get ripped up no matter what I do, and I want to be smart. At the same time, if it is not raining the whole time, I should still be able to dry my feet off routinely.

I fell today on the concrete and, of course, I was thinking this morning that I should put on my gloves, but I didn’t. My hands hurt, but they’re not bleeding, so that’s progress, but neither of my hands have healed completely since the last time I busted them up.

I was thinking about when I was going to have to leave on Saturday to get to the race at a decent time. It will roughly take an hour and 40 minutes to get there, and the race starts at 6. I also need to be there a little early for packet pickup. I’ll plan to be there at 5:30 a.m. at the latest, which means I am not going to be able to get a lot of sleep on Friday.
