Day 3,714—Night Run IV: Feelin’ It—
I broke my headphones this morning. I ran over them in my car. It was an accident. All I could think about was all the random things that had to happen for me to run over my headphones with my car. First, I had to go to the car wash. It is something I was debating doing yesterday and if I had my headphones would still be okay today. So, I was in a hurry because I was trying to make it outside to say goodbye to my daughter. I had walked out with my wife and my son, but I ran back in the house to get something before I was planning on leaving to get a car wash.
My wife thought I had already said goodbye and drove off, so I ran down the driveway, but she didn’t see me. This must have been when I dropped my headphones in the driveway. I drove home after the car wash and started looking for my headphones. I eventually decided I needed to drive back to the car wash. I pulled my wife's car back and noticed my headphones broken in the driveway. Still, part of me hoped they would work. Is that unreasonable to ask? One ear still worked.
Maybe the sun doesn’t hit you when you open the door, but it is still there a mile away from my home as I am staring at the face of the full moon across the train tracks. The thing about the moon is you got to be there in person. Tonight, it shined yellow, and I could see the face as clear as letters on a neon sign.
