Day 3,867 —Running with the Clouds—
Looking up and seeing the white clouds cover 2/3rds of the sky when it is dark always makes me smile. Why are the clouds so pronounced this morning? Why is the sky a dark shade of blue even though the sun isn’t out yet? I am sure there is an answer, but I don’t know it, it is exciting to see the juxtaposition of the stars and the moon, at the same time as a blue sky with white clouds.
The deer were out, and I greeted them as esteemed colleagues, and they didn’t run away today. It doesn’t matter what is happening in my life, it always makes me smile to meet animals in the wild. I might not feel that way if I meet an aggressive predator, but I don’t know. It was still cool to see that skunk and some kind of big cat during the R3. I probably shouldn’t still feel so fearless, but I don’t believe that most animals have any intention of harming me when I meet them. I can see it in their body language and how they react when they hear my voice. They were a little scared this morning at first, but then when I didn’t rush at them, or cause a loud noise, they started to relax. If they could talk, they would tell me, “Hi-what-are-you-doing here?! Never mind, we were just leaving, wait you’re not going to chase us, are you? Okay, maybe we were wrong, maybe we can wait here, and you will leave after a while. I don’t know you, but you kind of smell familiar.”
It is so cliché for someone like me to want to be friends with animals, but I would love to have deep conversations with bluejays and crows, and then catch up on the gossip with deer. I would love to talk to deer about what it feels like to run for them. I am so jealous of how a deer strides throughout the terrain. Deer, float they don’t run, you never see their feet touch the ground when they’re really moving. That’s how I want to run.
