Day 3,875 —Native American Heritage Day: good or bad for Native Americans?—

I don’t think I have ever noticed on my calendar before that the day after Thanksgiving is Native American Heritage, so I decided to read about it, and it has been since 2008 that it has been celebrated on the day after Thanksgiving. It was originally celebrated in 1912 in May because it does not seem like an appropriate day to celebrate a Native American holiday. Native Americans are famously not fans of Thanksgiving or National Day of Mourning, so what was the reasoning behind having this day so close to Thanksgiving and on a day that is already celebrated as Black Friday?

I slept for 7 hours last night, which is the most sleep I have gotten in one night in possibly years, still, the cat woke me up several times from 3 until 7. He is not a fan of me sleeping in, but when I get up, he rarely wants to hang out.
