Day 3,908 —Grocery Shopping on New Years—
I went to buy strawberries and blueberries because my kids had eaten all the ones we had, and my son needed some to bring to daycare.
The local grocer was about 2 miles from my house. The parking lot was almost full, and I heard one of the workers saying, “When I answer the phone, they ask if we’re open today. I am thinking, ‘no, that’s why I am answering the phone!’”
When I left, I couldn’t fit the potatoes and the plant-based bacon in my bag, so I held them in my right hand as I ran.
I wondered if I could start doing all my shopping this way. It might take a long time, but if I was planning on doing a lot of running over the weekend anyway, why not buy stuff at the grocery store and bring it home? I wonder how many trips it would take to bring home what I usually get at the grocery store.
Some items like watermelons would be almost impossible to take, but I know I can carry between 10 and 20 pounds in my vest with no problem, so if the watermelon would fit, I think I could carry it.
My hand is healing, but it is taking longer than I would like it to. I didn’t hurt myself as much as I have in the past. My right hand is the only thing that is still regularly bothering me, but I am happy I only lost a thin layer, and the part that got it the worst is slowly mending with what was left there.
I wonder if I should try to go see a movie or do something different before I go back to work on Friday.
