Day 3,935 —Last Week of January and the Recovery—

It is safe to say I am officially tired of the cold, the ice, and the snow. It was nice to look at for a week, even two weeks I was still enjoying being able to take pictures in the stark contrast, but today out there, this morning, made me think about how much I am looking forward to spring, how I am looking forward to summer, how I am looking forward to fall, and how I am tired of winter.

My recovery after this 100 was the easiest it has ever been. I took a nap on Sunday in the afternoon for a few hours. I tried to stay awake, but my body refused to do anything, so I passed out after I took a bath. I have been so hungry all week, and have been craving the Super Protein smoothie from Rush Bowls, which I got on the Sunday after the race, plus some vegan pizza from Mod. I consumed both quickly, and I was still hungry afterward. I feel like I lost weight from the run, but I don’t know. Now, that I have done the official testing, it doesn’t seem like any of the weight I lose from the run stays off for more than a couple of days.

It has been wonderful to hear from people who watched the race video. I spent a lot of time and effort making it fun and watchable, so thanks to everyone who took the time to let me know what they thought. Filming during the race and thinking about how I might edit stuff together later is such a distraction, so it is always good to know the work is going somewhere that brings people joy.

This morning, I took a picture of my shadow on the snow. I love watching my shadow; it feels like a disconnected representation of myself that is familiar, yet strange and unassuming.
