Day 4,029 —Running from a Goose—
It was nice to run with the sun coming up. I had my
headlamp on, but I didn’t need it after the first mile. It was my
fourth day of running with my weighted vest, and I almost didn’t notice
it. It is amazing how much you can get used to things.
I
had a decent night of sleep, but I was aggressively tired and was struggling to
focus on reading, but instead spent the morning reading Reddit posts. The last
section in the book I was reading, I Don’t Want to Talk about it, made
me so upset seeing how common it is to start reinforcing gender norms as early
as three-years-old. The pressure that boys are under to be manly is often
described as a privilege and not as a factor leading to long-term depression
and addiction.
The strangest thing happened when I was running
home. A goose was hissing at me, which I had seen before, so I knew to back
off, but this goose was not satisfied with me backing off, and it charged at
me. At this point, I was running on the grass to try to get away from this
hissing goose. I turned to look at the goose, and it started flying towards me.
Thankfully
it overshot its charge and I stopped and ran horizontally to get as far away
from where she had landed as possible.
I got away, but it was scary! I interact with geese
all the time, and I have never experienced anything like that
before.
