Day 4,050 —Finding Reverie—

I found it when crossing the creek in the cemetery. I found a place where some rocks and stones were close enough together so I could cross without getting my feet wet. I almost slipped and fell, but I caught myself. I walked up the hill and thought about how much I am like Calvin from Calvin Hobbes. There is a strip where he is walking in the woods, and he notices how the new house development involves destroying the forest that was there.

After walking through tall grass and seeing the construction workers at the top of the hill that used to be filled with trees, I saw that it is now nothing but big boxy houses, and they call the area a “Preserve.” That name “Preserve” makes me so angry because what are they preserving? They destroyed the woods to install more houses that no one asked for and no one needed.

But maybe a kid can walk through this creek like I just did and find their own inner Calvin as they experience what woods are left here, and that wouldn't be so bad.
