Day 4,048 —There is Destruction Everywhere and People are Basically Good—

It was flooding in my house this morning, so it must have rained a lot last night. I saw flashes of lightning, but I didn’t hear a lot of rain. The ground was wet, but the rain had stopped. I was moving slowly. I was impressed with all the flowers from the honeysuckles skewed on the parking lot by the plasma donation place. A few people were standing in front of it who might have seen me taking a picture, but when I glanced up, they weren’t paying attention. I waved, and said, “Good morning!” And one of the three looked up to see me.

There is so much destruction in the city, but where I live, people seem to be going about their day. I noticed a duck on a driveway, wondering if she had gotten displaced in the storm.

I have been listening to a book that is destroying all the supposed scientific research that proves people are basically evil. The one that I remember knowing about before was the Milgram experiment, which, if you read about it, you realize was anything but scientific. In a lot of ways, it was a piece of performance art that people agreed with, without reading anything about it. I remember being shocked to learn that a history teacher was still presenting it as a fact to students a couple of years ago. Isn’t there any responsibility for people to learn about things before they blindly present them as facts to young people?
