Day 4,030 —Animals on the Train Track—

Starting at the cusp of sunrise, I went to the train tracks to get a better look. I took a picture, but I was only half pleased, thinking it was too similar to photos I had taken there before, but when I kept going I saw a deer leap over the train tracks. I thought how much I would love that picture, but I missed it the deer had gone to the other side, and I was too far away to get a picture, but then multiple other deer jumped over the tracks, and during the last one, I got my camera out and took a picture. I was still pretty far away, so it was not easy to see, but I loved the idea of the image of deer jumping over tracks during sunrise.

On a whim, I decided to head over to the mile trail on my way home. I hadn't run the whole thing recently, but today I thought, “why not.” When I got to the entrance, I saw a raccoon just sitting there. I took his picture. He even let me get close, which made me worried something was wrong. Normally, raccoons are running away from me so fast, that I think they might be cats.

I have a plethora of things to be upset about and annoyed with, but it is hard to remember why they’re important when I hear the birds singing and see the animals leaping in the sunrise. I was struggling to get up at 4:15. It ended up taking me over an hour before heading out the door, still wearing my 20-pound vest. My right foot was bothering me some, but yesterday I realized I hadn’t bought more road shoes in months. I have at least 3 active pairs, but they’re already worn down.
