Day 4,171—Easy Marathon on Rainy Day—
I started out after sunrise, so I missed the best pictures, but I told myself that was okay because I needed to sleep. I decided to head down Gravois, but had no certain plans after. I noticed people were lining chairs on the sidewalk. There must be a parade. When I got to the windmill, I didn’t seem far away, so I kept going all the way to one of the high schools and turned left there. I wasn’t sure where I would end up if I kept going the same way and remembered roughly where this road went back towards Forest Park. I debated going to the Arch when I saw a sign saying it was a few miles away, but instead I prioritized going to Rush Bowl in the Central West End. I went by the Chafitz Arena and saw so many cars and then families walking towards the entrance. There was a banner for Disney on Ice. I wondered if I should have taken my daughter to this today. We had talked about seeing the Balloons in Forest Park, but she hadn’t seemed excited about going.
When I got to Lindel, I turned left to head towards my Super Protein with oat milk. I looked at my watch, and I was almost at 13. I felt guilty for treating myself so early in the run. I asked for a cup of water too and downed it quickly and got more water from the library afterward. Next, I headed toward Forest Park and ran a little way down Lindell, but turned right by the history museum and then went down Delmar by the Loop, taking Big Bend home.
I stopped at QT and got a Powerade and headed towards Webster. From there, I would go home. I went by the train tracks and lastly took Plant to Elm.
My daughter was almost in tears when I got home. She said she wanted to go to the park, so I changed and got in the car to take her and her brother, but as soon as we headed outside, it started raining. At first, we thought we could salvage the outing with umbrellas, but it was coming down fast and loud, so we went to the library. I wonder if they will still be able to have the balloon race today? Will I be able to do another marathon tomorrow? I don’t know. My goal is to be up early enough tomorrow to see the sunrise.
