Day 4,181—Champing (or is it chomping?) at the Bit—
I didn’t go to bed any earlier last night, but I went to sleep immediately. I'm glad I don’t have class tonight because I have homework to do, and every day it seems like I am racing against the clock to get everything done.
Yesterday, I watched one of my previous race videos to remember how I felt while I was running. I am normally averse to looking at myself on a screen, but I seem so happy in those race videos, and it is a good reminder of why I keep coming back for more. I am starting to get excited about my next 100-mile race in October! It is only three weeks from Saturday! Although I haven’t done many trails recently, I feel ready. Almost more than ready. Almost champing at the bit* to be there at that starting line waiting for the clock to roll over. Does it start at 5 or 6? I am not sure, but I think it will be cold, and I am ready for a change in the weather.
*I wasn’t sure if the phrase was “chomping” or “champing,” so I looked it up and found out it was “champing” and that it refers to a horse chewing at the metal bit at the start of the race.
