Day 4,307—Faster, Stronger, and the Push-Up Challenge—

I stretched in the cafeteria yesterday morning before the students arrived for breakfast. Last night, I did 50 push-ups and 15 leg lifts. The leg-lifts are helping with my leg. It is actually starting to feel better. Not free from pain, but better. More snow melted yesterday, and I finally ran a normal route. There was still snow on the sides of the street, but there was also a wider shoulder and more sidewalk. I promised not to be too annoyed about this, but my watch gave me the worst score I have ever gotten for recovery. I want to turn off the feature because it is so unhelpful. I feel more recovered today than I have in weeks, and I ran today at a faster pace than I have in a few weeks.

I don’t know if making it through January has given me energy, but today I feel like I see the end of the school year. Monday and Tuesday are the worst because I have class from 5:30-8, and twice a month on Monday, I have a meeting that usually lasts until 4, so I was doing the math yesterday, and I am either working or in class for almost 12 hours. If I add in the time I need to do chores related to my kids. I am looking at approximately 45 minutes in the afternoon and an hour at the end of the day. Although it is tough, I am starting to take some pride in getting it done. I don’t have that many days like that left, and even though I am sure I will do something equally or more challenging in the future, I am ready to get through this part, and I am ready to get back into shape. I want to do at least 1,500 push-ups in February.
