Day 4,315—Fleeting Spring—

I stumbled out of bed this morning, so tired I was wobbly as I made coffee. I didn’t think that I needed to run six miles today but ended up deciding I would spend the whole hour running. I feel like I should be able to go faster, but I also haven’t had much deviation in effort, so an easy hour of running might be a good goal for the rest of the week. I went out thinking how I expected there to be only a few cars on the roads, but there were cars around every corner. Sometimes I run behind the Schnucks to take a picture of the train tracks. This morning, there was a garbage truck coming the other way, so I turned to avoid it.

I ran a little in the park and on the trail at the back of the park, and once I hit that tree-surrounded area, it was like I was holding my breath before, and now I could finally breathe. I wondered if it was that much louder before or if it is the trees themselves that calm me. I run those sections in the park and on the trails so much that recently I have avoided them, but there is a reason why I go those ways. It is always nice to be on a dirt trail with trees on either side of you. Yesterday the sunshine made me smile and tricked me into thinking that it would be spring soon.
