Day 4,455—What a Difference a Hour Makes and my Movie Review of Obsession—

Start time: 6:12 a.m.

Weather: High 70s, wind 3.8 mi/h, Humidity 87%

I felt so much better today, starting earlier. I didn’t have much of a choice because I am going to the eye doctor this morning. I was still thinking about Obsession, which I went to see at the cheap show yesterday because I wanted to see a movie while I still could, but I ended up walking out. It wasn’t all bad. I got to see a new trailer for the Odyssey movie, which looks great, but this movie was upsetting.

I am not a horror guy, but I love classic horror movies and suspense horror movies in general; I can enjoy them, so I didn’t think much of this one going in. How could they make a super scary version of this story?! I have seen a million versions of this already, going all the way back to the story of Dr. Faust, but I didn’t expect to find a movie that basically shows a woman being tortured. How is this what the new generation is flocking to? We got characters who aren’t relatable, a story that is built on clichés and tropes, and what’s the payoff?! Watching a woman being tortured?! It doesn’t even have a moral or a lesson, which horror movies normally do. I guess the lesson is to be more careful with your wording when you’re making wishes?! But that’s not a new lesson. Also, everyone knows you cannot wish for people to fall in love with you?! We go over this in every movie with a genie, so I am not sure why we still need to educate the masses about this. So, what is this movie doing? Just showing a woman being tortured, and maybe I am the weird one who thinks that’s not entertainment.
