Day 4,459—5 Runs until the Vero Beach Octopus Ultra 100!—
Start time: 10:27 a.m.
Weather: High 70s, wind 2.2 mi/h, Humidity 83%
The holiday is over, and now it is time to prepare for the race! I am leaving in 4 days, which means I only have three days, not counting today, to get ready. It has felt close for so long, so it is hard for me to now shift into a more serious gear with packing and preparing for the trip. This morning I struggled so much to get out of bed. The fireworks went on so late last night that I ended up staying up until after midnight. Yet my cats still woke me up, and after they were fed, my kids jumped in bed, telling me they were hungry and it was time to get up.
I made breakfast and sat around my house for a few hours before deciding to run to the store to buy some bread. I am trying to think now if I needed anything else but bread. I also bought decaf coffee. I have been drinking the worst decaf coffee lately, but it won’t be long before I start drinking regular coffee again. It is nice to get it completely out of my system for a while. I have been so distracted recently, so it will be good to focus on this race. I don’t know how it is going to go. I am not as worried about the heat as I once was, but it will no doubt make me miserable; it is nice that I will have almost two weeks of the same weather here before I get there. Now, I am starting to freak out a little. I had so much time to get ready, and now I don’t even know how far behind I am. There is also all the things I want to get ready here for the week after but I also have to remember all that I got done.
