Day 4,479—Longest Run Since Vero Beach and Video Update!—

Start time: 8:17 a.m.

Weather: Low 70s, wind 6.0 mi/h, Humidity 90%

I am not surprised to see that humidity was the highest it has been since I have been back because I felt so wet during this run, and I couldn’t seem to dry even though I took water breaks and took my time making sure I was hydrated before moving on. I even brought some LMNT to use so I wasn’t dependent on hydration I would have to buy.

I stopped at Walgreens after almost 7 miles of running. I was keeping my eye on my pace, and my goal was to finish the first hour close to a 9-minute pace and then the second hour at a 9-minute pace. It seemed a little early to stop for something to drink, but I knew I wouldn’t have another opportunity on this route until 6 miles later when I made it to the first water fountain on Grant’s trail. I have always been frustrated with the lack of water fountains on this side of the trail. The other side of Grant’s trail has three water fountains within a couple of miles, so it is nice to end with the Kirkwood side of the trail when I am thirstier, but at the same time, there is a slight incline going the way I went today.

The woman at the Walgreens told me she thought I looked like a famous actor, and even though it isn’t the first time I have heard that, when she asked me which actors people say I look like, I couldn’t think of any. I was clean-shaven with short hair today, and the only actors I can honestly remember people saying that about were some of the TV actors who played Superman. There was a show called Smallville, and I remember someone telling me I looked like that actor, but I only remember because Sarah loved that show when she was younger. It was a nice thing for her to say, and it has been a while since I have heard that. It made me think of how it used to make me mad when people would say that when I was younger. Now, I realize they were just being nice. Who cares?

Every day without fail, I have spent time working on the video for the race, but I still don’t know exactly when it will be done. I need to set a deadline, as this is the longest I have gone without completing it. I will be done by Wednesday. I am also thinking about when my write-up might be done. I haven’t written any reflections or reviews of the race yet, so I am going to forgo that until the video is done. It is tough because every time I work on it, I seem to get a new idea about how to make it better. I want to insert some stills in strategic places when I don’t have good footage for the stories, so that will take some time to rework, but I am making progress! And cannot wait to finish it and share it with everyone! I included some of the illustrations today.
