Day 4,457—First Year Going to the Carnival—
Start time: 7:55 a.m.
Weather: High 70s, wind 1.6 mi/h, Humidity 85%
Even though it was hot at 5 last night, I urged my family to go to the Webster Groves Carnival/Fair. I took the pictures there yesterday, and I saw enough rides that both of my kids would enjoy. I decided to go. There was a carousel-style ride with classic cars that I knew my son would love. When we finally went there, he liked that ride so much he didn’t want to get off. I let him do it three different times, and he was laughing, smiling, enjoying it so much. The other ride they both seemed to enjoy was the sack slide. It is funny because I have a vague memory of doing a sack slide a million times as a kid. I wouldn’t have done it yesterday, but my son needed someone to go with him, so I ended up doing it with him three times. Walking to the stop made me realize how high it was, and once we started going, we went so fast. I slid some into the grass each time. It was a little much for me. My wife also seemed scared on the little roller coaster with our daughter!
Today, I was just thinking about how this summer routine of running and waiting at the bus stop with my wife and kids is officially over. I ran the same route I did most of June this morning, thinking of all the runs I did before. I was still happy thinking about what a great week it had been and how much fun they had last night. Also, I think I am finally getting a little better in the heat, just in time for the race next week. At this time next week, I might already be in Florida! Or at least Georgia.
