Day 4,000 —8 Days and 7 Runs until the Potawatomi 200! And reflecting on 4,000—

I wanted to do something special for my 4,000th day today, but I ended up getting up late and being in a hurry. Also, I am focused on healing and getting ready for the 200, so I knew I wasn’t going to run a lot, but maybe something to commemorate the moment.

I don’t think I did anything special for a 1,000 either; I have been focusing on the years to write and reflect, but at the same time 4,000 is a lot, and I am going to hit 11 years in a couple of weeks, so it is just crazy to think about.

I talked to a student who I taught as a freshman this morning. He is now working at one of the schools where I have some teachers, so it is good seeing him. I used to keep my number on my chalkboard, and students would ask about it every day. I don’t always miss teaching, but I bet my students would have been pretty pumped to talk about 4,000 days.

And isn’t that the nature of all this? My life has changed so much in these 4,000 days, but it is good to have that one consistent of running. As much as my identity has changed in other ways, I am still a streak runner!
