Day 4,027 — Riding my bike always makes me feel like I am ten-years-old—
I have been consistently reading first thing in the morning, and a couple of days ago I started listening to Kate Chopin’s The Awakening. I read a book about St. Louis, and it talks about her being from St. Louis originally. Although she moved from here when she was still a young child if I remember right, it put the story back in the front of my mind, and I am surprised how much I have liked it so far.
I ran with my weighted vest again this morning, and all I could think about was how Chris Roberts ran 100 miles with all this weight during the Shippey. My pack with water usually is between 5 and 10 pounds, so 20 pounds seems so heavy. The only negative I can think of for running with this much weight is how it will impact my knees, but my knees feel okay right now. They were the thing that bothered me the most during the 200-mile run, so much that I had to run differently, but I typically only deal with foot problems, and my knees haven’t bothered me for over a decade. Really, after switching to a plant-based diet, all types of swelling dropped off immediately. My feet don’t even swell that much anymore.
I keep thinking about how crazy these trade wars are that are going on right now. Nixon opened up China as a trading partner for the US, which was difficult mainly because China doesn’t need the US as a partner, but now a president who wants to pretend he is smart is ruining that relationship. It would be funny if it didn’t impact so many businesses in this country. What’s happening now is exactly what everyone predicted would happen, but I keep getting surprised to learn how some people do seem to notice now. Prices keep going up. My medication went up last week. I am glad I have health insurance because I would be going broke trying to afford it.
I was in an odd mood last night and I decided to ride my bike for a couple of miles. Riding my bike always makes me feel like I am ten-years-old.
