Day 4,005 —3 Days and 2 Runs until the Potawatomi 200: More Changes to my Sleep Plan and Last-Minute Shopping—
Today's run went by quickly and my thoughts were on preparing for the race and what I thought about my new shoes after I fixed the lace.
I read yesterday that people try to “bank” sleep. Even though this idea has been debunked from what I have read about sleep, I still decided it was worth trying. I would not be able to get close to 10 hours of sleep, which was recommended, but last night I was in bed for over 7 hours, which is more than I have gotten in a while.
I can’t sleep in that much tonight, but I will try to go to bed earlier. The same goes for Tuesday, but there is a chance I might be able to get more sleep on Wednesday night. I am completely off caffeine today, in time enough to hopefully make falling asleep easier.
I read a plan yesterday that I thought sounded smart. It suggested not sleeping at all until the end of the second night. I liked what it said about sleeping right before sunrise for the added mental boost of the sunrise, but I don’t know if I can make it that long without any sleep, and I feel like there might be more potential for me to oversleep if I wait that long. I think my goal instead will be to rest some before sunrise each morning.
Also, now that the forecast is for the 30s, I need to get more warm clothes together. I wore my jacket and shorts today to see how I would feel, and I did feel fine, but it did make me consider throwing in another jacket.
Things I still need to pack:
Toothbrush, will I need bug spray? Suntan lotion. I also need to make food if I'm going to do that. I bought a lot of tofu yesterday, so I just need to spend a few hours making it.
