Day 4,022 —the Marathon is on Saturday: a Break in the Fence—
I am usually so excited about running the Go! St. Louis Marathon, and I am getting there. I don’t like all the changes from year to year, I looked at the route, and I am glad we’re going over the bridge into Illinois, which is always fun. Last year, I had my worst marathon ever, but it was a learning experience. This year, I am not sure what time I will try to run. I want to just relax and have a good time.
It is always fun to run with so many other people and see the big crowds cheering everyone on. I really could use that kind of support when running my ultras, but the support at the ultras is always high quality, even if not a lot of people show up.
I was proud of myself for not looking at my phone first thing this morning. I instead read some, and I was able to start my run a little after 5 a.m. I decided to run a slightly different route than I had done before. I had a hunch there would be a break in the fence where the two different kinds of fences merge. I was right, but I wondered who made the hole in the fence. I used to assume it was people, but in reality, I wonder if it is deer that make the holes in the fences. This is my 4th day of meditating in a row!
My favorite part of this run was sitting by the pond for a moment and watching the geese sleep.
