Day 4,203—2 Runs until the OT: Need to Pack—

I have packed some every day since Sunday, which meant I took food, clothes, and supplies and put them in a huge pile in my house. This will only be my second 100-mile run with my wife and kids, where they have driven down with me and stayed with me somewhere the night before the race. They have come up to see me finish several races and have made an appearance at most of the local races I have done, but this will be different. I don’t even know if all our stuff is going to fit in our car. I am glad her parents are coming to help with some packing, but I am anxious and apprehensive, and just want to take off work today so I can finish packing, go shopping, and put the stuff in the car so I know everything will fit okay.

I also must be up in time to get on a bus at 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, which isn’t that much different than the Badger 100, but that means I need to be able to go to bed early on Friday, which is never easy to do normally.

I used “Shoe Goo” to patch the holes in my trail shoes, which I planned to use yesterday, and tried them out today. The stuff worked, and my shoes did not rip in my brief run today, but I will probably put some more on today just to make sure. I love my Altra shoes, but how often they rip in the toe area makes me want to find some different shoes. Although I prefer not to buy a new pair now, before the race. I will have a backup pair, of course, but they will be in an after 50-mile drop bag, so this pair will have to get me through most of the race, which makes me a little worried as I type this, but I am confident I will figure this out! There are a lot of benefits about this weekend too; I just need to shift my focus.
