Day 4,205—Tomorrow is the Ozark Trail 100! And my 6th 100/100+ Ultra this Year!—
As much as I have been focused on other things, the prospect of this race is becoming a reality, and I am scared. What if I suddenly get tired and just cannot do it? What if I forget to pack something important (ChapStick, I just remembered!). What if I get lost, my phone dies, and my charger doesn’t work? What if I get lost going there, and I don’t go to sleep until late tonight and miss the bus to the start of the race in the morning?!
These and so many other questions are typical. I tell myself, “You got this. All you can do is try and plan for the best.” I get slightly calmer listening to my internal monologue and starting to take deep breaths, and part of me remembers that this is why I love this. It is like everything in life. All you can do is what you can do, and everything else is just noise.
I got my drop bags packed! But everything else I am still working on. I might leave work early today. Maybe just an hour would give me enough time.
