Day 4,277—Watching Birds—
I decided to run at least 10 miles at the track today and took a different route, adding almost a mile. I stopped to sit like I have been doing, but today I was sitting next to the baseball field and just got wrapped up watching the birds. There were so many of them, all picking at the ground. I wondered what was on the ground. All at once, they flew in a circle and landed somewhere nearby. I imagined a picture where one of the birds was in focus, but I couldn’t get that close; I loved watching them. I thought about how much they looked like a herd of dinosaurs.
I didn’t listen to anything until the first hour was done, and on the track, I saw a similar group. One guy who seems to be playing soccer with younger kids. He seems like he is coaching goalies. On the other side were some kids playing football. I couldn’t believe how long they stayed out there. There was also a woman who was talking on the phone as she walked, and an older guy who was doing the stairs and then dropping to do some push-ups using the stands. I kept thinking about my leg and hoping I wasn’t straining it, but at the same time, it was encouraging to do 15 today. Last year this weekend, I ran a marathon, and I knew that wasn’t an option today, but I also didn’t run a 42-mile trail run in December last year, so everything is relative. I have started to look forward to the Shippey 100! Less than two weeks away, and the weather looks great! Cold but not that cold, and so far, no snow.
