Day 4,286—3 Runs until the Shippey 100!—
There is a big group of deer that sleeps in the middle of what used to be a pond. There is still some water, but all the water has been so low this year that they hang out in the middle. When they see me with my light coming, some of them stand up and look over. This morning, I sat down next to the path that circles around them. I turned my light off and started to focus on breathing.
I thought about the fox I saw last week, or was it some kind of coyote? It looked like a dog at first, but then I saw the tail and knew it was something different. I didn’t write about the day I saw it because I was writing about so many other things.
I was reviewing information about the race yesterday at the end of the day, and I like the major change they’re making, which is to relocate the aid station from the start and finish to the larger building. The other thing I learned was that I was only going to be able to have two drop bags at this race. I normally have closer to 4, so only having two doesn’t seem like a lot. I might text Jake about it today. I could try to pack less, but most of the stuff I pack will be clothes, and I want to be able to prepare for the worst. It looks like it will be pretty cold on Saturday, possibly even in the single digits plus the windchill, but there is still time for the weather to change.
