Day 4,288—1 Runs until the Shippey 100!—

I didn’t get up until 4:10 this morning. All I remember it was 3:50 and then it was suddenly 4:10 and my alarm wasn’t going off, so I must have turned it off and went back to sleep.

It is colder today than it was yesterday, so I wore my heavier stuff to run. I decided to run closer to a mile today, so I went down Laclede and over to the trail. At first I was thinking about the tree stump I like to sit on that is close. I planned out a mile in my head that would get me back there to sit for a while but once I got there I couldn’t find the tree stump. I started to look around for the other tree stump but they were all gone. I imagined the huge tree stump removers that must have been where I was standing. I took a picture of this tree and ran home.

I didn’t pack at all last night. All I wanted to do was take a break, so I heated up some dinner and my wife, and I watched an episode of Severance. I kept on willing myself to get up pack and do something, but I just couldn’t. I was so exhausted from the relentlessness that has been this year so far. Whenever I try to find relief all I find is a pause to the barrage but not relief.
