Day 4,366—Happy Friday! And the Water Fountain is on!—
I just added a little bit to my run this morning to make it the five miles I wanted. I am not sure why I like a 5-mile run as a base. Part of me feels like it isn’t a lot, but it still seems challenging to get that in every weekday. This week was a little more difficult, and next week I don’t know what my plan will be with the marathon on Saturday. Maybe I will only do a few miles on the Friday before. I started being a little more strategic when thinking about races. I am planning what I want to do next year now. I don’t think I realized how long some of the drives would be. It is good I live in the Midwest because I am in the middle of everything, but still, many states are over 20 hours away by car, which makes it hard to fit in during the school year unless I plan around a holiday or take 4 days off work.
Today I felt tired when I got up and was slow to start my run. I'm usually motivated by listening to a book, but I couldn’t pay attention to anything, which was good because I wasn't tempted to turn anything on during my run. I have been thinking about what I want to carry during the marathon, and the more I think about it, the more I realize I don’t want to listen to anything during the race, but I might after I walk back to my car. I need to pull up the map of the start, so I know where I am going to park. I would love not to have to wear anything extra around my waist when I am running, because no matter what I have tried, it never seems tight enough to keep it from bothering me.
When I got to the park, I saw a deer on the trail. There are so many of them. I wasn’t trying to scare her, but I was going in the same direction, and she just looked at me for a long time as I approached before she ran off in the other direction. I wondered where she went. I remember a group of deer yesterday, and I was worried about them crossing the street. I wonder if most made it over, but some stayed scared and stayed on the other side of Laclede. When I was in the park, I decided to see if the water fountain was on, and to my surprise, it was! So glad the days of not being able to use water fountains are over! I got to just put those dates on my calendar, but it will be so much easier on my runs over the weekend, unless I end up going on a trail, which I still want to do, but I need to buy a new hydration vest first. Pushups have been going well so far this month. Just 250 a day, no more and no less.
