Day 4,390—Last Days of April—

I saw an email from the school district yesterday saying they were canceling all after-school activities due to storm warnings. This morning, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when I looked at my phone, I saw severe weather warnings from now until 10 a.m., which left me confused about how canceling after school would make things safer for the staff and students.
When I opened the door, it was raining hard, and I could hear the thunder and see the lightning. I closed the door and wondered if I should try a different headlamp. I went back inside for a few minutes, and then I emerged running in the downpour. I decided I would do somewhere around 2 or 3 miles. Maybe I couldn’t take the day off, but I could do a little less today. The only problem is that once I started running in the rain, I stopped thinking about how uncomfortable it was and spent my time being impressed with all the water flowing everywhere and how it felt like the thunder was shaking the ground. I put my phone in a soft case to protect it from damage and took some pictures under an awning. Ever since last year’s unexpected tornadoes, I am so much more on alert whenever there is anything going on like this. I don’t want to go to work at all, but I am guessing it will be okay, but you never know.
