Day 4,379—Almost Normal—

I slept in this morning by accident, but it made sense. Last night, it was around the usual time to go to sleep, but I started getting alerts on my phone: there was a tornado warning. Even though my personal property wasn’t damaged by the tornado in St. Louis last year, my office was, and my previous school was shut down as a result. Also, a second one that wasn’t labeled a tornado but did rip through a clear path across the street happened even more recently. Was it just last year at this time when it went down? I guess it was. That seems like such a long time ago.

My point is that I don’t think I will ever take weather warnings the same way again. We stayed up late enough to see the warning change to an intense thunderstorm, then went to bed. I think my wife was up checking on it because when I woke up a little after midnight, she wasn’t in bed, so it reminded me of what happened last night. Even though all that was in the background when I started running this morning, I felt better. I had been dealing with the usual pain, plus this stuff, in my right foot, and lingering effects of my illness last week. It is not like everything was healed 100% today, but I didn’t feel nearly as tired after this run, and during it, I felt fresh and no longer like I was suddenly in awful shape. It is amazing what can change in a day. I looked for some clear impact from the storm last night, but I didn’t see much. I saw some odd rain patterns on trees and some limbs down, but nothing that strange.
