Day 4,376—Back to Work—
I was trying today to just get back to my normal routine, but everything has been taking longer than necessary. It was warm outside: it felt like spring. I wondered whether I was feeling tired because I was still recovering from being sick or because of the marathon. Every time I considered it, I wondered why the marathon had worn me out so much. I went from feeling in amazing shape after running the Thunder Kiss 100 to feeling like I am barely holding on after this weekend. I don’t like this slow, but today I tried to dismiss my concerns about speed and focus on the evenness of my pace.
I saw a cat surprisingly after I had been going for a while. He didn’t run away, just looked over at me while I took a couple of pictures. I thought about how, in the future, I should try to get outside just as early, even if I don’t run, going for a walk would be just as helpful in the morning when I cannot do as much. I liked breathing in the fresh air of the morning and hearing the birds sing, but as soon as I headed back towards home, there were already so many cars out, and the air smelled more like vehicles than like spring. This is why it is important to make it out early. It is Felix’s birthday today! Happy birthday, Felix!
